Clark, Del Vecchio and the Woodmans Receive Awards

The four of us received awards from Anderson Ranch, the venerable arts center and workshop, at a packed, convivial gala dinner at the Viceroy Hotel in Snowmass Village, Aspen, on July 14. For Mark and I to get the National Service to the Arts Award was a career high made all the more meaningful by the presence of Betty and George Woodman, who picked up the National Artist Award. I have been friends with the pair since the late 1970’s and Mark and I represented Betty’s work for several years when we first opened in Los Angeles. Our excitement is echoed by our two sons, Mark who collects Betty’s ceramics and Kellam who does the same with George’s photography. The Woodmans presently have an exhibition in Aspen at the Harvey/Meadows Gallery, one of the finest and most passionate ceramic specialists in the country, with George’s exciting time-traveling photography and Betty’s ceramics and stunning new monoprints. At left: Garth, Betty, Mark, and George in Aspen, Colorado.
